Escambia County, Florida Inmate Search

An inmate Search in Escambia County allows the public to see if someone is currently housed in the county jail. The Sheriff’s Office has not been responsible for Escambia County Jail operations since 2013. The Escambia County Board of County Commissioners has assumed responsibility and assigned the Escambia County Department of Corrections the responsibility for supervising jail operations. The department has an Inmate Search portal where people may check who is currently in custody. The portal reveals the inmate’s personal identifying information; booking date, time, and number; custody status; and charges.

In Escambia County, there is one sole municipal police department: the Pensacola Police Department. Although this department conducts law enforcement activities within the City of Pensacola, it does not operate a long-term jail like the county’s. All inmate inquiries should be directed to the Escambia County Department of Corrections.

Requesters interested in inmate searches for state offenders should visit the official website of the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC). The FDC has several Offender Search portals where the public can find the information they need at no cost. Typically, one will need a name or number to perform a search. The FDC does not maintain inmate records of federal offenders. Therefore, anyone seeking such information should visit the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) official website and use the Inmate Locator. Users may find inmates by name (first, middle, or last ) or number (BOP register number, DCDC number, FBI number, or INS number)

Inmate Search by Jail Facility

The best way to conduct an inmate search at the Escambia Correctional Facility is through the Inmate Search Portal. The portal provides a list of inmates currently housed in the county jail. Users may provide a name or booking date to search. However, the portal does not release inmate information about juveniles. Therefore, requesters may have to visit or contact the Escambia Regional Juvenile Detention Center to obtain such information. However, juvenile inmate records are released only to authorized individuals due to their confidential nature.

The jail check-in process begins 30 minutes before visitation begins. All visitors must be 18 years old, and an adult must accompany anyone under 18. The jail does not accept visitors smelling of alcohol or appearing to be intoxicated by alcohol or drugs. Smart watches or other similar devices will not be permitted. Mailing and Commissary Information

The Escambia County Corrections Department encourages inmates to maintain communication with family and friends while incarcerated. Interested inmates may purchase from the commissary anything they need for mailing, including writing materials, cards, and stamped envelopes. Jail staff will inspect all incoming mail for contraband, opening it in the recipient’s presence. Outgoing mail is not interfered with, though it may be opened and inspected solely to ensure it does not contain information that violates jail rules. The department does not provide outgoing certified mail service, but inspects the contents of privileged mail for contraband before sealing.

All incoming mail should be addressed to

Commissary

Inmates have two options for submitting commissary orders: using the in-pod inmate tablet within their housing unit or placing an order online through an authorized third-party vendor. Orders are processed and delivered weekly.

To make purchases, inmates must have the necessary funds in their accounts. There is a weekly spending cap of $175 on commissary items. This limit, however, does not apply to purchases of shoes, clothing, toiletries, radios, phone debit minutes, earphones, or batteries.

An inmate may qualify for indigent status if their account balance remains under $1 for 14 consecutive days.
